   Introduction

Out of all the maximum cushioned daily trainers in the industry, the Fresh Foam X More V5 is an exceptional running shoe for several reasons. At first glance, its highly rockered geometry and appealing design make it a must-have for any runner looking for a versatile pair that can be used not only for easy runs but also for casual wear. Secondly, it is highly cushioned, plush, and comfortable, guaranteeing a smooth and bouncy ride whenever you are pounding the pavements. There have been minor adjustments from its predecessor, the Fresh Foam X More V4, with a more breathable upper, gusseted tongue, and a broader base for stability. With these enhancements, the Fresh Foam X More V5 redefines comfort and versatility, making it an essential addition to any runner's collection.

New Balance Fresh Foam X More V5 Upper Design and Fitting

NB Fresh Foam X More V5 Upper min

The upper of the Fresh Foam X More V5 is simply stunning, boasting a wide array of aesthetically pleasing colorways. It has a remarkably lightweight and breathable engineered mesh upper, ensuring that even logging miles in hot weather is a walk in the park. Slipping into this pair for the first time felt incredibly plush, and I can attest to its breathability since my feet remained cool and fresh even after my long weekly runs in the Arizona heat.

Unlike its predecessor, the More V4, the tongue of More v5 is gusseted, making it easier to stay in place while running. The padding on the tongue is sufficient enough to provide comfort for my instep. The heel collar is also well-padded, providing a secure fit at the ankle and eliminating slippage. Running in the More V5 was more forgiving to my sensitive Achilles tendons, seeing that the heel counter was sturdy, supportive, and adequately padded. Overall, the upper is perfectly snug, and I found that it fits true to size in my women's 9.5. However, if your feet are exceptionally wide, I would recommend going half a size up.

New Balance Fresh Foam X More V5 Midsole and Performance

New Balance Fresh Foam X More V5 Midsole

Do not let the thick midsole of the Fresh Foam X More V5 fool you into believing that this shoe feels clunky underfoot. The Fresh Foam X used on the midsole is lightweight and responsive, giving a sufficient amount of energy return with each stride. This Fresh Foam X is the same foam used in the 1080 v13. After logging 40 miles in them on the first test run, they felt soft and bouncy and even provided extra support for my feet due to the high side walls and sole flare incorporated into the sides of the midsole.

What I love most about the midsole is how plush it feels throughout the length of the shoe. There is maximum comfort especially during recovery runs. New Balance has used a lighter and softer Fresh Foam X. It is softer than the popular Fresh Foam common in the budget-friendly foam. The Fresh Foam X midsole has a marshmallowy underfoot feel.

The new Fresh Foam More V5 has a low heel drop of 4mm (30mm in the forefoot and 34mm in the heel), which takes the natural gait of the average foot. Besides, it is not a heavy shoe. It weighs 244g (8.6 oz) for the women's version and 321g (11.3 oz) for the men's.

Outsole

The Fresh Foam X More V5 outsole is crafted from a durable rubber compound that maintains a firm grip on various terrains, such as paved roads, parks, and light trails. Its traction is also impressive on wet surfaces, and even after logging 120 miles on different surfaces, it showed minimal signs of wear. For a price of $155, this certainly offers excellent value for my money.

Running in the More V5 gave a smooth and cushioned ride, seamlessly transitioning from heel to toe. Its rockered geometry ensures a natural forward motion, making each step effortless. This combination of cushioning and design offers a comfortable and enjoyable running experience, perfect for easy and long runs.
